City of Providence Launches New Website Developed with Brave River Solutions

Developed with Brave River Solutions, the City’s new website streamlines communications


Warwick, RI – October 05, 2010
– This week, the City of Providence launched a comprehensive new website that makes it easy for residents to access essential city information and services online. The newly redesigned site, www.providenceri.com, was developed with Brave River Solutions as a part of Providence Mayor David N. Cicilline’s ongoing work to make city government more accessible and user-friendly. The website is also home to ProvConnex, an innovative web-based tool that provides 24-hour access to city government information, forms, payments and service requests.

A total site redesign was performed in order to achieve a consistent look and feel across all departments and other City websites, including www.bankonprovidence.org, which was designed and developed by Brave River Solutions earlier this year. Brave River worked closely with the Mayor’s Office to establish the most effective way to connect Providence residents with information from every City department. “We were honored to work with the Mayor’s Office on this project. It’s important for residents to stay in touch with their city’s government; so to be able to play a role in helping to make that happen is extremely rewarding,” says Ernie Gaines, President of Brave River Solutions.

On the new www.providenceri.com, each department has its own page featuring the latest news and announcements as well as a calendar of events. The pages can be updated directly by department members, ensuring that news can be posted as soon as it happens, and that all information is up-to-date.

Members of the Brave River staff trained about 80 City employees to post to the website over the course of four training sessions on August 30 and 31. “Brave River did a tremendous job working with the City’s web team to develop the site, but also to ensure that city employees had the training and tools they needed to make it happen. It was a very successful collaboration for everyone involved,” says Karen Watts, Director of Communications for the Office of Mayor Cicilline.

The City of Providence’s new website launched at 8:30 PM on Sunday, October 3, 2010.
