Brave River Solutions helps United Way of Rhode Island and 2-1-1 move to their new office location.
Warwick, RI (August 29, 2008) - As the United Way of Rhode Island (UWRI) was preparing to make the move to Olneyville, Brave River Solutions was by their side. While staffers were settling into their new offices at 50 Valley Street, Brave River was working to ensure that the new transition went as smoothly as possible by making certain that the phone system, computer networks, and other IT infrastructure was operational.
This was not the first IT Management Project that Brave River and UWRI worked on together. Brave River has been providing the United Way of Rhode Island with outsourced CIO level support since 2004. As part of Brave River's "CIO to Go" services, they provide UWRI with ongoing part-time assistance in a variety of areas including creating an IT Roadmap, and developing and rolling-out policies and procedures for internet usage including internet monitoring and security.
The preparation and execution of the move to UWRI's new home took months of planning, Brave River was part of an IT work group which planned the tasks for creating the technical infrastructure to support the operation. In addition to their official role on the project, Brave River also volunteered their time to help physically pack and unpack the computer equipment. Dwight Rogers of Brave River Solutions said "It was a pleasure working with the UWRI IT staff during the move; the experience was rewarding and evoked a feeling of being with family."
As part of the project, Brave River and UWRI created RFP's to select security systems and a new phone system for United Way and the 2-1-1 call center. "It's difficult to nail down exactly what Brave River has done to help the United Way transition into our new building because they have done so much. From helping us physically break down hardware to consultations of wiring, they were here at a moments notice, before and after hours. I can't say enough about what they have done for us" said Angelo Miccoli, Vice President of Operations at the United Way of Rhode Island.
