Food Drive Generates Over 200 Pounds of Food for Rhode Islanders in Need

Brave River’s second annual holiday food drive held for Rhode Island Community Food Bank.

Warwick, RI – November 22, 2010 – Following in the tradition set forth last year, Brave River Solutions held its annual food drive, collecting donations of food items for the Rhode Island Community Food Bank. Helping the food bank with their Holiday Meal Drive goal of 350,000 pounds, Brave River collected 220 pounds of food with the assistance of neighboring offices in Warwick’s Centerville Commons office park.

Yielding even more donations than last year’s successful campaign, the Winter 2010 drive was a part of Brave River’s ongoing commitment to social responsibility and community giving. Donations of dietary staples like canned vegetables and meats, hearty brown rice, and nutritious cereals were delivered to the food bank on November 18, after 3 weeks of collection.

Given the current state of Rhode Island’s economy, food donations are more important than ever; in the last two years, the food bank has reported a 50% increase in the number of residents served. “We’ve always put great value on being able to give back to our community,” said Ernie Gaines, President of Brave River Solutions, “and with the holidays approaching, it’s important to remember our fellow Rhode Islanders in need.” Brave River would like to thank everyone who gave for their support and generosity.
