Giving Back - Holiday Food Drive & Annual Blood Drive

Brave River sponsors their third annual blood drive. They also hosted a holiday food drive for the Rhode Island Community Food Bank.

Warwick, RI (January 7, 2010)- This year, Brave River gives back to the community twofold by completing their 3rd annual blood drive along with a successful holiday food drive.

Continuing their tradition set forth two years ago, the employees of Brave River assisted in the fight against blood shortages in RI by donating to the Rhode Island Blood Center. On November 16, 2009, the RIBC’s mobile donation center parked at Brave River’s Centerville Common’s office plaza. Every employee that donated a small amount of time and blood helped to save the lives of countless people in medical need throughout the state. The collection effort made by Brave River plays an integral part in the larger pool of corporate donations throughout the state. Without such precious donations, the RIBC would fall considerably shorter of the amount of blood needed to keep Rhode Islanders in need protected in times of medical crisis.

With the winter approaching, Brave River also sought to make sure that all families were able to have a good meal at their dinner table this holiday season. With the decline of the economy affecting more families than previously expected, there will be a much larger wave of people relying on food banks this winter. To combat the hunger, Brave River placed donation boxes in the office buildings throughout their plaza. Asking for such staples as canned vegetables, brown rice, and stuffing, the employees collected over two-hundred pounds of food to be sent to the Rhode Island Community Food Bank in time for the holidays.
Such campaigns as these are part of a larger effort of Brave River to continue giving back to the community. “Our employees really drive these efforts, they are all very conscious about giving back to the community at large,” said James McAssey, Vice President. “Vital donations such as blood and food go a long way in helping those in need. We’re glad to do what we can.”

Brave River would like to thank all those who helped these efforts conclude in a tremendous success.
