The Rhode Island State Division of Tourism needed improvements to their website’s performance, visibility, and content management system (CMS). Their existing website was unreliable, experiencing downtime at least once a week, and editing the content of the site was tedious and complex. In addition, there was little opportunity for user interaction with the site, and as a result, traffic was down.
To improve the site’s technical performance, we migrated the existing website to a faster, more reliable server that reduced downtime and guaranteed system stability. We enhanced the Division of Tourism’s existing content management system (CMS) to simplify the updating process, affording them more control over site content and allowing them to change content more frequently and easily.
Brave River also improved the site’s functionality by transferring to a new website architecture, and we enriched the user experience by adding a high-performance search feature and social media enhancements. To increase visibility and exposure to the website, we performed SEO (search engine optimization) work, created an iFrame to simplify the event calendar for use on other websites, and syndicated the calendar’s content through an RSS feed.
The technical improvements made by Brave River lead to an increase in system uptime and efficiency. As a result of our SEO efforts and the increase in the website’s level of interactivity, click volume is up, and the average time spent on the website has increased.
The RI State Division of Tourism is the official state agency responsible for promoting domestic and international tourism to Rhode Island.
