City of Cranston Selects Brave River for Programming and Website Services

WARWICK – May 7, 2008 – Brave River Solutions has received a letter of award in response to their bid for the City of Cranston’s Professional Programming and Website Services.

As part of an RFQ process in June 2007, Brave River Solutions presented their qualifications to the City. The presentation focused on Brave River’s ability to develop and support high-quality, complex applications. The City of Cranston’s Board of Contract and Purchase approved Brave River’s services, and the two groups have begun working together on the first of many projects.

Their first project involves working with the City’s IT team and Tax Assessor’s office to make enhancements to the City’s Title Card Management System. According to Maria Giarrusso, GIS Manager for the City of Cranston, Brave River was selected as the City’s “go-to guy” for any required support or changes to the System, which manages changes in ownership and other land evidence records through electronic title cards.

Brave River worked with the City to review the business logic and architecture of the System, offering suggestions for services that would both streamline and enhance its functionality. One of the major enhancements they are working on involves setting up an account management system that would make the Title Card System available to the public on a subscription basis.

Currently, to perform a title search you need to visit the Cranston City Hall during regular business hours. With a subscription to the System, however, title searchers will have the convenience of accessing these documents outside of normal business hours from their home or office.

“Brave River has provided us with better tools to streamline our operations. The more that we can do with the System, the better we are able to serve the municipality,” said Giarrusso. By offering time-based subscriptions for a nominal fee, she says the City will be able to expedite the process of looking up land records, helping to generate revenue for the City of Cranston in the process.

While the account management system is still in the final stages of development, Giarrusso says she is more than pleased with the professionalism she has seen from Brave River so far, adding, “I’m confident Brave River is going to exceed our expectations. I expect I’m going to be very happy.”

Giarrusso said she expects there will be projects involving enhancements to inter-related systems in the future, and that she plans on utilizing Brave River’s services for those as well.
